A Journalist's Guide to Adoption

What's New at IAI

July 2003: A Journalist's Guide to Adoption, the first adoption portal for researching and covering adoption-related topics and news. Written by journalists, the new guide is available on the Internet.

January 2003: Publication of "A Guide to Adoption for Health Care & Counseling Professionals" designed to address the lack of knowledge about adoption amongst pregnancy counselors and medical professionals.

January 2002: The Article "Why You Should Understand Adoption" has been added to the site to aid you in explaining to others why adoption is not only a viable option for building families, but is also a desirable one - for parents, society, and most importantly, for the children themselves.

October 2002: An aid to contact the media with both your compliments and complaints was added on the "Kudos and Complaints" page. It includes mail, e-mail and telephone numbers to many major news and television networks, studios, and programs.

August 2001: Manuals on how to get the Educator's Guide into your local school system.

July 1999: An Educator's Guide to Adoption published.

March  1998:  From cyberspace, Richard Ellis, an adoptee and graduate student in biology writes :"My adoptive parents were always open and very honest with myself and my sister as to 'where' we came from. We were allowed to grow up in a home where we knew we were loved even more  due to the difficult nature of our family origins.  All people need to realize that loving care and nurturing are more important factors in a child's growth than just biological relatedness! Science can now produce embryos in the laboratories, but there will never be enough science to produce the love and understanding that the act of adoption can!
