& Complaints Media List
Do you have a complaint about how
adoption is portrayed in news and entertainment programs? Do
you think some programming deserves praise for its accurate coverage
of adoption? Here is a list of addresses for news, broadcasting,
and feature film media. While we have tried to list individual
emails or emails designed for viewer/reader feedback, some can
only be reached through their web site. In those cases, we've
listed both the web address and the URL for feedback.
Tips for complaining: No flaming, please. Be polite and lay out
your reasoned argument as to why they should change. The Institute
for Adoption Information has material to help you with that including
"Why You Should Understand Adoption,"
and the "Suggested
Adoption Language for Media Stylebooks". Praise what
they did right in their coverage.
The Institute for Adoption Information
has written or will be writing letters which can be used by others.
Please feel free to borrow language from these letters to get
your point across or to help you craft your own letters. They
can be viewed by clicking on Letters
to the Media. Here are some suggestions you can give to those
you write to aid them in using positive adoption language, entitled,
"Handy Guide To
Constructive Adoption Language."
