MovieName: The
Country Bears
MovieRate: G
ViewerAge: All
Adoption Content:
The movie begins with the bear finding
out he was adopted. He is told by his human brother who is quite
cruel in telling him he is adopted. I don't remember the movie
ever making any mention of the bears birth parents. Positive:
It is a good clean family movie. And has a happy ending.
Tone:
Negative: Brother is cruel in telling
him he doesn't belong cause he is not a kid he is a bear. He
tells him that they don't even look alike and shows a baby picture
of himself and picture of the day they got him. The bear then
runs away.
Comments:
In the end of the movie the brother accepts the bear as his brother. (of course he is now a star with the country bears) They are now one big happy family
Recommendation:
My concern was when my own son was
little he was always proud of being adopted. It wasnt until he
was in third or fourth grade that he was made fun of because of
adoption. I am thankful for the first 8 or 9 years of him being
able to view adoption as positive. If he had seen this movie
at a young age it would have burst that bubble much sooner.
